According to a recent report from Education Department’s National Centre for Education Statistics, the post-secondary student enrolment has dropped considerably in the time period from mid of 2016 to late 2017, while in the same period the number of partial online enrolments grew by almost 6%.
What is astonishing to note is the proportion of students enrolled exclusively for online course rose to 15%, which is roughly 1 in 5 students. The proportion of students with a mix of online and onsite learning rose to almost 18% in 2018. During the same year, the proportion of students taking at-least one online course rose to almost 34%.
The data clearly shows a rise and popularity in online learning. A very noteworthy fact is that there is a definite increase in the number of online students while at the same time a dip in the onsite enrolments.
According to another survey conducted by The Changing Landscape of Online Education (CHLOE), large colleges are more likely to report growth in fully online courses (84%) compared to mid-size (60%) or small (48%) institutions.

I think this acquisition and the trends within hiring, workplace skills, and training are a big reason why we are seeing these revenue projections. People need to keep learning to succeed (or just stay afloat) in these times.
